2021’s meme stock mania is coming to the big screen.

“Dumb Money” will tell the story of last year’s GameStop stock trading frenzy ushered in by retail traders in the Reddit sub-group Wall Street Bets.

Pete Davidson (“Saturday Night Live’), Paul Dano (“There Will Be Blood, “The Batman”), Seth Rogan (“The Interview, Pineapple Express), and Sebastian Stan (“Avengers: Infinity War”, “Pam and Tommy”) are set to star.

According to the movie’s published synopsis, “The film tells the story of fortunes won and lost overnight in the David-vs.-Goliath GameStop short squeeze that might have ended up changing Wall Street forever. It offers a gripping portrayal of how a loosely affiliated group of private investors and internet trolls on a subreddit called WallStreetBets took down one of the biggest hedge funds on Wall Street, firing the first shot in a revolution that threatened to upend the establishment.”

“Dumb Money” is based on the non-fiction book “”The Antisocial Network: The GameStop Short Squeeze and the Ragtag Group of Amateur Traders That Brought Wall Street to Its Knees” by Ben Mezrich. Mezrich is also the author of “The Accidental Billionaires” which was adapted into the Oscar-winning movie about Facebook, “The Social Network.”

“Dumb Money” will be directed by Craig Gillespie (“Pam and Tommy”). Filming is scheduled to begin this month.
